Edward G. Dowling

Edward G. Dowling Jr, age 87, peacefully passed on August 18, 2022. Born in Providence, RI on October 21,1934, to the late Edward and Jane Dowling. Attended high school in Evanston, IL, and put himself through night school at Northwestern University (a Phi Kappa Sigma Alumni). Combining his love of numbers and helping people, Ed became a Financial Advisor in 1965 and retired in 2017 at the age of 82.

An avid reader and Greenbay Packers fan. Ed’s hobbies included travel, golf, birds, his grandchildren and sharing a good meal. Community meant the world to him, whether fundraising or volunteering, Ed generously gave of himself.

Preceded in death by his late wife of 30 years, “Cinder”; his previous wife of 26 years, Hazel; his parents; siblings Barry and Pam; and his son Barry. Survived by his children Terry, Laura and Dyan; his grandchildren Zack and Andy; and his cat Chipper.

A memorial will be held Monday, August 29, 2022, from 4pm-8pm at Davenport Funeral Home at 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL 60010.
