Edward A. Scott III died peacefully on August 8th. Born in 1947, Ed spent his youth in Olympia Fields, and was a longtime resident of Barrington. He is survived by his wife Lauri (King), son Stormy (Helena), and daughters Haley Cermak (Brian) and McKenzie Scott (Ben). Waiting for him at Heaven’s gate were parents Edward Scott Jr. and Joan (Boyter), sisters Susan and Karen Scott-Leonard, brother Kevin Scott, and brother-in-law Ernie Cusentino. Ed is also survived by siblings Barbara Woodworth, Debbie Cusentino, and Terry Scott (Karin) and sister-in-law, Joan Scott. He was the extremely proud grandfather of Cameron, Tyler, Oliver, and Finnlay, and the patriarch uncle to eleven nieces and nephews. Ed graduated from Marian Catholic High School, where he excelled in football and baseball. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona, and a JD from the John Marshall Law School. Ed practiced law for over forty years in Chicago and Barrington, and earned a reputation as a skilled litigator. He was the first of thirty-six grandchildren on his father’s side, and proudly carried on the third generation of the Edward Aloysius Scott name. The oldest of seven children, and with four younger sisters, Ed enjoyed the role of Prince of the Family well into his twenties. Ed could often be found on a golf course or near the water. He was a talented writer and adored by others for his compassion and dry wit. As a child of the fifties and sixties, he loved rock and roll, particularly the Eagles, and by now has likely tracked down Glen Frey in heaven. Ed will be dearly missed by those lucky enough to know and love him.
Visitation will be from 12pm until the time of eulogies at 3pm, Friday August 11 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake Cook Road) Barrington. Interment will be private.
In Lieu of flowers, we warmly ask that you make a donation to your local humane society in Ed’s name.
