On March 14, 2021, the Rafferty family suffered the loss of their matriarch, Eileen. She
passed away peacefully at her home in Lake Geneva, WI. She was born January 24, 1941
in Chicago, IL to Thomas and Charlotte Fitzpatrick.
Eileen was the loving and dedicated husband, of nearly 59 years, of Bob; compassionate,
understanding, loving mother and role model to her children, Kathleen Zdunek of
Oconomowoc, WI, Robert Rafferty of Texas, Sheila (Matt) Feikes of Rolling Meadows, IL,
Brian (Deirdre) Rafferty of West Dundee, IL, Eileen (late James) Rafferty-Stumpf of
Waukesha, WI, Sean (Jill) Rafferty of Ormond Beach, FL, and Brigid (Tom) Baber of
Hartland, WI; loving and caring grandma of, Katelyn, Alexandra(Shane Evans), and Edward
Zdunek; Maggie and Sean Feikes; Brogan, McCall, Liam, and Shannon Rafferty; Ireland
Elizabeth and Liam Rafferty-Stumpf; Kayla and Erin Rafferty; and Colleen and Kathleen
Baber; sisters, Charlene(the late Dan) Joyce, Maureen(Chuck) Keough, Kathleen(Gene)
Callahan, and Marianne(Bill) Duffner; and brother, Peter(Karen) Fitzpatrick. Sister-in-law of
the late Lawrence(Pat) Rafferty, the late John(Carol) Rafferty and Catherine Rafferty. She
was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Tom(late Jan) Fitzpatrick and Michael(late
Kathy) Fitzpatrick; sister, Denise(Duke) Dempsey; and granddaughter Ireland Eileen
Rafferty. She was an extraordinary woman who will be remembered by all as fun loving,
generous, funny and full of life.
Eileen was the bond that unified a beautiful family. While she may no longer be here on
earth, the relationships that she forged were nothing short of unbreakable. Words seem
inadequate when trying to describe Eileen’s dynamic personality. She had a sharp sense of
humor and was unapologetically honest. Eileen was filled with pride for her family and
would do anything to protect them. Most of all she was loving, comforting and unbelievably
caring. Any one that knew her, felt her love the moment she showed her bright smile. She
constantly made us laugh and kept us on our toes. She always had a way of making you
feel like you were the most important person in the room. Her heart always had room for
more.
Eileen was from the Beverly neighborhood in Chicago where she attended Academy of Our
Lady School (Longwood) and St Xavier University, where she earned her BS in Nursing.
After marrying the love of her life, they lived in Glenwood, IL, Arlington Heights, IL,
Barrington, IL, Naples, FL(one of her favorite places in the world) and finally Lake Geneva,
WI.
