Therese R. (Antczak) Lombardo

Therese R. Lombardo (nee Antczak) 2/22/1930-11/1/2023, 93, died peacefully at her longtime home in Barrington. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Vincent, and her parents Bruno and Anna. Born in Chicago, Therese graduated from Wells High School and Wesley Passavant Nursing School. A born and raised city girl, Therese and Vince first moved to a farm outside of Barrington before settling in town. She raised five children, Beth (Jesse) Soszko, Laura (Mike Dowling), Mary (Clint) Wesolik, Phillip (Kathy), and John (Megan). Therese was a grandmother to 12, a great-grandmother to 22, and a devoted sister to Florence Kaminski, Bernadette (Jerome) Krzywdzinski, sister-in-law to Thomas Lombardo, a loving aunt, cousin, dear friend, and neighbor to many.

Family was central to Therese, and she extended her love to all who walked in the front door. She delighted in small joys, large family parties, the chaos of her grandchildren playing in the yard, the trees turning in the fall, and bright Christmas lights. Therese was an avid reader and enjoyed discussing the latest selection with her book club. Known for the seasonal flowers on her front porch, her famous saucepan brownies and biscotti, endless pots of coffee, and her compassionate conversation around the kitchen table, Therese always had time to listen.

Therese’s strong faith was evident in her active participation in St. Anne Catholic Parish. She was involved in The Women’s Club, Faith Justice, Scripture and Reading groups; and served on the Parish Council. Her caring for others was seen through her nursing career at the Chicago Cancer Prevention Center and St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly.

The family expresses deep appreciation to Journey Care Hospice, her caregivers, and the many friends and extended family members who so loved her.

Visitation will be at Davenport Funeral Home on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 3-8 p.m. On Tuesday, November 7, 2023 visitation will be at St. Anne Catholic Church 120 N. Ela Street, Barrington from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Mass for Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am at St. Anne Catholic Church, Therese’s wish was that memorial donations be made to “the charities close to your heart.”
