Alan D. Knox, 72 years old of Galesburg, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 22 after 2 months at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. Alan enjoyed Bible study, counting his blessings, helping others, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was born at home in West Des Moines, Iowa on February 12, 1940. He graduated from Ankeny High School in 1958 and worked for the Rock Island Railroad in Des Moines, Kansas City and Chicago. After the Rock Island closed in 1980, he began a new career restoring and rehabbing houses in Waukegan, Highland Park, and Galesburg. He took pleasure in working on his homes and his craftsmanship was admired by many.
Alan was a blessing to his wife of 51 years, Judy (Witt), his son Doug (Joanne) of Crystal Lake, Illinois, his daughter Julie Dahlberg (Scott) of Grayslake, Illinois, his six grandchildren and many others.
Visitation will be 4-9pm Tuesday April 3 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake. Funeral service will be at 11am Wednesday April 4 at the funeral home followed by burial in Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
