Alfred A. Dembinski, 82, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025.
Alfred was born on January 11, 1943, in Chicago to Aloysius and Theresa (Boike) Dembinski. He grew up in the city and graduated from Lane Tech High School before spending over 20 years working for Braniff Airlines, followed by another 20 years at Hertz Car Rental.
Alfred was married to Christine (née Wieczorek) for 56 years, and together they built a life filled with simple joys. He loved going on long drives with Christine, listening to Elvis or old country music, and spending time in his garage, where he was always tinkering with something. He enjoyed his recliner, his cigars, and his garden, but above all, he loved his family.
Alfred had an “Archie Bunker” kind of personality—gruff at times, but always sharp-witted and fiercely loyal. He had a habit of keeping everything, organizing it with an almost obsessive level of detail. If you ever mentioned something from 30 years ago, chances were he still had it and could tell you exactly where it was.
Alfred and Christine moved to Crystal Lake in 1973, where they raised their family. He is survived by his wife, Christine; his children, Joseph Dembinski and Andrea Dembinski; and his grandchildren, Marc and Annabel. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Boyd.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8, from 3:00 p.m. until the service at 7:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
