Alfred Edward “Ted” Davidson, of Barrington passed away peacefully on January 10, 2016. He was born on May 29, 1929 in Evanston, IL to Alfred E. and Edith Davidson.
Ted graduated from Evanston High School in 1947, Dartmouth College in 1952 and earned an MBA from Tuck School of Business, Hanover, NH in 1953. His career was with Patent Scaffold Company that was started by his grandfather. He married Eleanor (nee Shaw) in 1954 and raised their family in Wilmette, IL. He was very active in the First Congregational Church of Evanston and Trinity United Methodist Church of Wilmette. He served on the board as Treasurer of the Wilmette Teen Center for many years.
In 1988 he retired from Patent Scaffold Company. In 1993 they moved to their home in Sarasota, FL. Due to his life long battle with Muscular Dystrophy they returned to Illinois to be near family. He is survived by his children, Susan (Thomas) Davidson Murdock, Thomas and Margaret Davidson; two grandchildren, Lindsay and Andrew (Sara) Murdock and 2 great-grandchildren, Saida and Makenza Murdock. He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor Shaw Davidson and son Peter.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10 AM at Willow Creek Community Church, 67 E. Algonquin Road, South Barrington, IL 60010.
