Alfredo M. Papasin, 77, of Island Lake passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on March 7, 2021 at home. He was born on April 11, 1943 in Manila, Philippines to Faustino and Aquilina (de Marucut) Papasin.
As a youth, Alfredo loved playing basketball and handball. On the court he didn’t miss, his nickname was Deadly Eddie because his friends said he was a sharp shooter. Alfredo graduated from Batangas University in 1961, majoring in Business and Management. He immigrated to the United States in 1971 to make a better life for his family. A trailblazer, he led the way for his family to come to America and become productive, successful members of society. Alfredo was an accountant for over 30 years and always had a keen sense of business. He left the accounting world and was then employed at Sage Products to work closer to home and family. He retired in 2006 and started his new job as caregiver and Uber driver to his grandchildren. Alfredo enjoyed good music, the movies, and tasty food. He was his grandchildren’s number one fan on the court, the field, and the music auditorium. Alfredo loved to watch them play and perform.
Alfredo, better known as Fred, will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Mellie; daughter, Donna and Donna’s husband, Dale Young; grandchildren, Dale Jr (DJ), Daniel, and Amelia.
Fred is survived by his sister, Remy Gomez of Troy, Michigan, age 76, and Romy Papasin of San Jose, California, age 74. He was preceded in death by his parents, Faustino and Aquilina (de Marucut) Papasin, and brother, Faustino Papasin Jr.
