A Catholic Celebration of Life for Alice C. O’Donnell (nee Lyons),86, of Barrington, formerly of Long Grove and Deerfield, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 2,2011, at St. Anne Church, 120 N. Ela Street (at the corner of Ela and Franklin Streets), Barrington, where a memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass. She was born September 1, 1924 in Mauston, WI. Interment will be private.
She was an elementary school teacher for 32 years, teaching in Chicago and Lincolnshire. In addition she was named Illinois teacher of the year. She enjoyed reading and was involved in book clubs. Spending time with her family and friends was what she loved most.
Family includes her husband Lawrence O’Donnell; her children, Michael (Brett), Maureen (John) Malloy, Kerry (Luke) Pluto, and Kevin (Vilija); her grandchildren, Conor, Devon, Daniel, Patrick, Kevin, Meghan, Caitlin, William, Alina, and Lukas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice (nee Dougherty) and Steven Lyons, and her brothers Michael and Giles Lyons.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Mrs. O’Donnell’s name may be made to Catholic Charities, Attn: Development Department, 671 S. Lewis, Waukegan, IL 60085.
