Ambrose Thillman

August 15, 1919 — February 8, 2015

Ambrose "Amby" E. Thillman, 95, of North Palm Beach, Florida, formerly of Crystal Lake, died Sunday, February 8, 2015 in North Palm Beach, Florida, peacefully and beautifully with his children around him as he passed into God's loving arms.

He was born on August 15, 1919 to Edward and Agnes Thillman in Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota.

He was a man of profound honesty, integrity and kindness. He was a blessing to all who had him in their lives and who were privileged to call him friend. He married Yvonne Ladd in 1943 and they spent 58 years together until her passing in 2001. He served his country in WWII as a Coast Guardsman stationed in the Pacific operating the then secret and newly developed LORAN system to assist our forces in navigation. Upon his return from serving his country, he began his family and business career in the land development and building business.

He is survived by his loving children, Charles Thillman, Greg Thillman, Joseph (Jean) Thillman and Mary Thillman Keller; grandchildren, Christine (Skip) Rinker, Sheila (Tony) Sappe, Michelle (Mark Sedelnik) Thillman, Allison (Matt) Lisle, Todd Thillman, John Thillman, Anne Thillman, Emily (Robert) Clark, and Maryellen Thillman; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Lorraine (the late Al) Kroll; brothers -in-law, Jeff (Kathy) Ladd and David (Mimi) Ladd; sister-in-law, Anne (the late Roger) Ladd many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Amby was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Yvonne (nee Ladd) Thillman; and son, Douglas Thillman.

Memorial Mass will be held at 10a.m., Saturday, May 2, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake, IL 60014.

Burial will be held at Crystal Lake Memorial Park following the mass.
