Ambrose Peter Witczak, of Barrington for 16 years, and Elmwood Park for 50 years.
Born May 12, 1916 in Chicago, Ambrose passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the age of 98.
Ambrose was an avid gardener, fisherman, vacationer, and dedicated Chicago Cubs fan. He was an Army National Guard veteran of WWII and was also later active with the Boy Scouts.
Ambrose is survived by his loving children, Joyce Stockler, Terrance (Joanne) Witczak, Marcia (William) Boone, and Phyllis (Michael) Jung; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane in 2013; brothers, Joseph and Arthur; and sisters, Evelyn and Collette.
Memorial visitation will be held from 9:30am until the time of the service at 11:00am, Saturday, September 20 at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W Main St (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities, 721 N LaSalle, Chicago, IL 60654, or to Barrington Area Council of Aging, Meals on Wheels, 6000 Garlands Lane, Suite 100, Barrington, IL 60010.
