Amir Khazei

A. Hassan Khazei, MD, 80, of Elgin, pioneer of the historic open heart surgery program at Sherman Hospital, died Saturday, March 10, 2012.

Survivors include his wife, Mona (nee Vigeland); children, Kim (Scott A. Huff), Deborah, Brent, and Eric (Nicole) Khazei; grandchildren, Hayden, Walker, and Tatum Huff, Jackson Khazei, and Eric and Colton Khazei; sibling, Amir (the late Carmen) M. Khazei, MD; and nephews and nieces, Alan, Lance, Darla, and Mia Khazei.

A public memorial visitation will be 4-9 p.m., Thursday, March 15, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington. Interment and service private.

Dr. Khazei touched countless lives having performed thousands of open heart surgeries - Dream realized and goal reached.
