Anita Linder

Anita Linder, 94 of Algonquin, died peacefully November 9, 2014 at Journeycare Hospice in Barrington, with her daughter by her side. She was born September 18, 1920 in New Kensington, PA, the fifth of seven children to Joseph and Rose (Gambone) Gulino. She grew up in Chicago and graduated from Tully High School. She worked as an administrator and office manager. In her spare time she was a professional musician in an all girl trio call “The Three Brunettes”. She played saxophone, drums and was a great harmonizer.

In January 1957 she married Oscar “Ollie” Linder and when Geralyn, her only child, was born she became a stay at home mom, working as a typist for Divine Word Missionaries. In later years she went back to work in the insurance industry.

She moved to Park Ridge n the ‘80’s and after retiring, she became an active member of ‘The Young at Heart Club’ through St Paul of the Cross Church in Park Ridge, where she was the president of that organization for many years..

She lived a wonderful life the last nine years in Algonquin with Geralyn and Dan, filled with music, reading , baking, TV, movies, cooking and all the activities of the (4) loves of her life her grandchildren brought her - watching hockey , school plays , soccer, choir, graduations, Harry Potter, Black Hawks, Bulls and Big Brother. Plus two special little friends Max and Henry.

She is survived by her daughter Geralyn (Daniel) Volpendesta, (4) grandchildren, John, Olivia, Bobby, Alaina, her sister Yolanda(Frank) DePaul, special nephew Peter Kosiek and special niece Anne Monique Egan as well as many other loving nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Arthur, Buzzy, Marie, Angie and Gloria.

Visitation will be Friday November 14 from 4 to 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral home. 419 E. Terra Cotta in Crystal Lake, IL. Final viewing is at 11 AM at DeFiore Jorgensen in Huntley, IL with a 12 PM mass at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntley, IL . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to JourneyCare Hospice or St Mary’s of Huntley Catholic Church
