Barrington, Illinois,A Mass of Christian Burial for Ann M. Paddock (nee Burton), 86, widow of Paddock Publications late publisher and chairman Stuart R. Paddock Jr., will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 14, at St. Anne Church, 120 Ela St. (at the corner of Franklin St.), Barrington, where visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Father Britto Berchmans will officiate. Burial will be in Randhill Park Cemetery, Arlington Heights. Visitation will also be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. Born July 3, 1923, in Chicago, she passed away Thursday, June 10,2010, at Prairieview the Garlands in Barrington. Ann was an employee and longtime board member of Paddock Publications. She was a member of St. Anne Church, and a member and past president of the Business and Professional Women?s Club of Arlington Heights. Born and raised in Chicago, to Charles and Harriet Burton, her first husband died after being struck by an illness following a decorated military career. The two had four children, John, Peter, Susan and Mary Ann. Mrs. Paddock started in the newspaper business as an executive assistant to Stuart R. Paddock Sr. before his retirement in 1963. She married Stuart Paddock Jr. on July 24, 1977, in Barrington. He died in 2002, at the age of 86. The Paddocks filled their 25-year marriage with a true business partnership at the newspaper, an extensive social life attending cultural events including the Elgin Symphony, the Chicago Symphony and Chicago?s Goodman Theater. She was a longtime Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, and enjoyed traveling. Mrs. Paddock was also active in civic causes, including the Girl Scouts Prairie Council, Northwest Business and Professional Women, and the Northwest Community Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Paddock was elected to the board of directors of Paddock Publications in 1992, and remained an integral part of the board after the death of her husband. Mrs. Paddock became director emeritus of the board last April. As a former employee and a family member, she brought a unique perspective to the board. Survivors include her children, John (Theresa) Rosengren, Mary Ann (Tom Dohnal) Armer and Susan (Philip) Koch; grandchildren, John Rosengren, Philip (Kristin) Rosengren, Elizabeth (Chris) Cotone, Peter (Maura) Rosengren, Laurie (Jim) Haselden, Megan Rosengren, Melissa Koch, Kristen Koch, Juliette Koch; and great-grandchildren, Gavin, Charlie and Avery Rosengren. In addition, she is survived by stepchildren, Deborah Campbell, Lee Dunkel, Jerre Dudley, Stuart R. Paddock III and Greta Vines; 12 stepgrandchildren; and five great-stepgrandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her husbands, Warren J. Rosengren and Stuart R. Paddock Jr.; son, Peter Rosengren; brothers, Donald and Chuck Burton; her parents, Charles and Harriet Burton; and stepdaughter, Rebecca McLellan.
