Biography

Anton "Tony" Winkler, 86, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, passed away December 8, 2012, in Barrington, Illinois. He was born April 22, 1926 to Anton and Anna Winkler in Chicago.

Tony proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II on the island of Palawan in the Philippines, earning several service medals. He was a member of the National Association of Machinist & Aerospace Workers and later retired from American Motors in Kenosha Wisconsin in 1988. He was an avid fisherman, storyteller, and fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears, and the Green Bay Packers.

Tony was a loving father to his children, Richard (Colette) Winkler, Linda (James) Prusinski and Nancy Mundschenk; caring grandfather to Christopher (Michelle) Winkler, Richard (Emily) Winkler, Amanda (Dr. Ruston) Howell, Peter Prusinski, Eric Prusinski, Melissa Mundschenk, Ryan Mundschenk, Patrick Mundschenk, Brandon Mundschenk and Troy Mundschenk; and playful great-grandfather to Piper, Benjamin, Max, Tyler and Liam Winkler, Catherine, Eleanor and William Howell ad well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Winkler, his parents, Anton and Anna, and his siblings, Frank Winkler, and Irma and Ann Igler.

Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, December 28 from 10am until the time of service at 12 Noon at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rt. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
