Arla Marie (Pearce) Melhorn

Arla Melhorn, 58, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2017 in Crystal Lake. She was born on June 8, 1959 in Joliet to Eugene and Geraldine (nee Hicks) Pearce.

Arla was a jack of all trades, master of none (in her opinion) but her real passion was costume design and creation. She loved her time at Dancing Horses in Delavan, WI but cherished her time at Six Flags and adored her coworkers. Arla was an active volunteer at Valley Hi Nursing Home in Woodstock. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Lake in the Hills. Arla opened her heart and home to many “extra children” over the years, and was proud to be called Mom by all.

Arla is survived by her husband, Robert Melhorn; her children, Rob (Robbyn) Melhorn and Brian Melhorn; her grandson, Aaron Lietz; her great granddaughter, Lydia Lietz; her siblings, Karen (Thomas) Damratowski, Verna Pearce, and Vernon (Suzy) Pearce; and special family member, Jason (Dee) Foreman.

She is preceded in death by her siblings, Marsha (Wesley) Schultz, and Valinda Ervin; and her parents.

Her family will receive guests from 2pm until time of funeral service at 6pm, Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Interment private.
