Arlene Baade

Arlene R. Baade, 82, of Barrington, passed away, Saturday, January 17, 2015, in Arlington Heights.

She was born in Palatine on February 27, 1932, to Henry and Martha Malzahn of Arlington Heights.

Arlene’s roots in Barrington began 65 years ago when she started working at Jewel Tea. There, she met the love of her life Reuben. They were married on August 18, 1951. Together, they built their lives and two houses in town, one on the SW corner of Hager Ave and Main Street and one on Hill Street. She was not only a homemaker, but worked briefly at Barrington’s Jewel Store and then for many years as the Office Administrator at Speck Oil Company in Barrington. During retirement, she devoted herself to her passions of family and friends, her card clubs and childhood friends, travel, birds, music and church, where she was a member of the choir and volunteered for the Grief Support group.

Arlene is survived by her loving children, Steve (Irva) Baade, Al (Pat) Baade, Kevin (Pat) Baade, and her “fourth son” Mitch (Maita) Daniels; grandchildren, Heather (Eric) Howe, and Brett (Carrie) Baade; great- grandchildren, Atticus, Abram, Ainsley, and Hazel; godson, Dale (Gail) Horn; dear nieces, Jan Marshall, Sandy (Dale) Jewell, Linda Ford; nephew, Wayne (Alice) Malzahn and cousin Donna Siemro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Baade; brothers, Harold and Herb Malzahn; a sister, Norma Wolff; nephew, Dale Malzahn; cousin, Lynette Anderson; and great-grandson, Matthew Howe.

Visitation will be held from 3-8p.m., Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL.

Visitation will continue on Friday January 23, 2015 from 10a.m., until the funeral service at 11a.m., at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 720 Dundee Ave., Barrington, IL.

Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington following the service with a reception luncheon to follow back at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Arlene’s memory to St. Matthew Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
