Arlene E. Blanken, lifelong resident of Crystal Lake, passed away with her loving family by her side on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the age of 84.
She was born June 18, 1930 in Chicago to Edward and Flora Piper. Arlene spent many loving years married to Delmer Blanken until his passing in 1995. For over 40 years, she worked with Immanuel Lutheran Church as the church and school secretary. After retiring from the church, Arlene worked for Home State Bank as a bank teller. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed playing cards, miniature golf, and spending time in Florida. Most of all, Arlene was very family oriented and will be remembered as a good friend to all.
Arlene is survived by her daughters, Barb Blanken, Joan (Michael) Bentley, and Jane Blanken; grandchildren, Deric Blanken, and Travis Blanken; and great-grandchildren, Alex and Jacob Blanken.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer; son, Rick; grandson, Micheal; and brother, Marvin.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 5:00pm until the time of the funeral service at 7:00pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 932 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Arlene’s name may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 932 McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
