Audelia Calderon de Duron

Audelia Calderón de Durón, 87, of Crystal Lake, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday morning, June 9th, 2024, at Northwestern Hospital in McHenry. She was born in Durango, Mexico, on May 20, 1937.

In 1952, she married her beloved husband, Refugio Durón, and together they built a wonderful life together.  Audelia is survived by her children: José Guadalupe Durón and Luz García, María Adelita Reyes and José Reyes, José Luis Durón and Alejandra Ortega, Miguel Durón and Joanna, José Ramón Durón and María Durón, Filiberto Durón and María Sifuentes, Juan Pablo Durón and Josefina Reyes, José Refugio Durón and Sara Martínez, and José Alfredo and Juana Retana.

She was a proud grandmother to Pupis, Yoyis, José, Edith, Vero, Cathy, Celeste, JR, José Luis Jr, Chío, Mónica, José Manuel, Joanna, Vanessa, Frank, Ana, Mathew, Yuri, Yeya, Viri, Junior, Karla, Fátima, Mariana, Nancy, Yenni, La Güera, Chepis, Selena, Joey, Lupita, Alfredo, Cuquin, Priscila, and Cynthia. In addition to her 36 grandchildren, she leaves behind 48 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are Socorro Calderón, María Muñoz, and Luis Muñoz.

Audelia was a devoted member of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, finding joy in attending Sunday services. Her greatest happiness came from cooking for her family, her face lighting up as she fed her loved ones. She was renowned for her sharp memory, recalling the birthdays and names of all her descendants. Audelia was the matriarch and glue of her family, especially in the 25 years since her husband's passing. Her wisdom and loving words provided comfort, and her presence was a source of emotional strength. Her hugs and sweet voice felt like home, offering solace and love.

Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Sunday, June 16, from 3 pm until a service at 7 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. 

Audelia will be laid to rest next to her husband in her hometown at the San Lucas de Ocampo Cemetery, Durango, Mexico. 
  

Please omit flowers. Memorials may be made to the funeral home to help pay for her funeral expenses.
