The memorial service for Auli Hartikainen (nee Aarnio),64, of Barrington for 28 years, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 9, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 401 E. Main St., Barrington, IL. The Reverend Jana Chwalisz will officiate.

Born March 7,1948, in Finland, she passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Good Shepherd Hospital. 

Auli earned a B.S. degree in digital electronics and micro processors from DeVry University. She was the lead electronics drafts person at Recon Optical from 1978 to 2007.  In 2008 she worked in customer relations at the Enjoy Life Foods Company.  As a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Auli served on the Finance Ministry and the Church Council.  She was an active member of the Finladies of Chicagoland and Around World Women.

Auli was a compassionate person with an adventurous spirit.  As an avid traveler she traveled to Europe, Australia, Panama and many Asian countries, but mostly she truly enjoyed cruising. In addition, she made trips to Finland to see friends and relatives.

Auli is survived by her loving husband, Heikki; and step-mother, Hilkka Aarnio.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Erkki and Airi (nee Raikkonen) Aarnio.
