December 5, 1924 — May 16, 2015

Aurelia “Lil” Carlson Doddek
Born December 5, 1924
Died May 16, 2015

Lil grew up in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago with fond memories of going to Lincoln Park Zoo. She loved to watch the famous gorilla, Bushman, which was her favorite animal.

In 1947 she married Leonard Carlson, a carpenter contractor. Together they had many life adventures including raising three children, establishing a contracting business that was instrument in establishing Brentwood Estates in Palatine, and owning stables and showing horses. She loved working for Max Factor and Sun Electric as an office manager. Leonard preceded her in death in 1991.

In 1992 she married R. Harold Doddek and the adventures continued into retirement. Highlights include accomplishing a local senior tennis championship and extensive travel. Harold passed away in 2008.

Lil enjoyed being part of her children’s lives, family, tennis, traveling, and her friends in all her walks through life in Des Plaines, IL, McHenry, IL, Decatur, IL, and Mission, TX. She was an inspiration to all with her abundant energy, her steadfast resolve, her giving nature, and her gentle kindness.

She will be missed by her children, Lindy Sander of Woodstock, IL, Lory (Dave) Lysik of St. Germaine, WI, Leonard “Lenny” (Tammy) Carlson of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Cody, Jessica (Roger), Nikki (Felipe), Angel, Lenny, and Alex; sister, Tosca (Serio) Siena; great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and the multitude of friends she made through the years.

Memorial visitation will be Thursday, May 21st, from 3pm until 8pm with a service at 6:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rte 176), Crystal Lake.
