Barbara Christine “Christy” Dodge, passed away the morning of September 7, 2021, at her home in Crystal Lake, IL, surrounded by loving family after a tough two-year battle and multiple hospitalizations. After being released from her last hospitalization, our Heavenly Father allowed her four blessed days where she was able to visit, at her cherished home, with loved ones. Family and friends were the cornerstone of Christy's life, and she loved this time that our loving Father in Heaven gave her to celebrate her life. Mark Lewie Dodge married Christy on July 17, 2015 – a match made in heaven. Being a loving wife was the culmination of a lifetime goal. Christy passed over, happily married to the man of her dreams.
Christy was born in Brunswick, Georgia, on November 3, 1970. She was a “Georgia Peach” bursting with the fullness of life, and enjoyed her life to the fullest. Her heart was full of love for the less fortunate. She also lived in California, Minnesota, Washington, with a brief time in Canada. She is survived by her husband, Mark; her son, Cody Parsons-O'Brien of Spokane, Washington; her stepson, Bryce Dodge of Elk City, Oklahoma; her parents, Gary and Nancy Parsons; her siblings, Joseph, James, Andrew, and Abigail, all of Spokane, and Mary Newton of Ramsey, Minnesota. Numerous nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family will miss her without exception. She is preceded in death by her brother, Roy, and all four sets of grandparents.
Christy held several jobs but finally got into the medical field in Spokane, Washington. Then she moved to the Chicago area in 2013 and started working for Continuum Pediatric Nursing. She scheduled in-home nursing care for special needs children. She excelled at this mentally and emotionally demanding career. Families and these children were not just numbers. They were real people who often required 24/7 time and attention so proper nursing staff could help these special "kiddos" as she called them.
Christy will be missed by all those left here, but we believe that through our Lord and Savior's sacrifice for us, we will see her again as part of our Eternal Father's plan for us.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 18, from 3:30pm until the time of her Funeral Service at 5:00pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL.
Christy would love flowers for her send-off, however, you may also consider donations to your favorite charity in her name.
