Barbara “Barb” Lynn Downing, 48, of Hoffman Estates, died, June 21, 2014, in Evanston. She was born on June 3, 1966 to Arthur Jr. and Janis Wollpert in Waukegan, IL.
Barb, a graduate of Purdue University was a pharmacist for 18 years. She retired and became
The PTA President at Plum Grove Jr high school 2008-2010. More recently, Barb volunteered for the USO helping traveling service men and woman at O’Hare airport. Barb’s USO involvement stemmed from her Relationship with the Barrington United Methodist Church, a spiritual community she enjoyed.
Barb is survived by her loving husband of 23 plus years, Scott Downing; children, Hannah Downing and Grace Downing; brother, Michael Wollpert; sister, Laura (Todd) Ringa; her parents; brother-in-law, Aaron Downing; father and mother-in-law, Dale Jr. (Marie) Downing; nephews and many cousins.
Visitation will be held from 3-9p.m., Wednesday, June 25, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd), Barrington, 60010.
Funeral service will be held at 11a.m., Thursday, June 26, at Barrington United Methodist Church, 98 Algonquin Road, Barrington, IL 60010. There will be a second visitation held one hour prior to the service at church.
