Born August 31, 1942 in Chicago to Stanley and Ethel (nee LaMarsh) Davidson, Barbara J. Flaherty passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, July 25, 2012.
Barb worked at McHenry County College, retiring in 2008 after 30 years of service. She will be remembered for her love of shopping; her trips to southwest Florida; baking scones and making raspberry jam; traveling; and giving gifts and love to her 17 grandchildren, who provided her so much enjoyment.
Barb is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gus; children, Lori (Kurt) Beisner, Patti (Mark) Nieszel, Brian (Kelly) Flaherty, Bev (Mike) Stotz, and Sharon (Jim) Oeffling; and grandchildren, Sarah and Mary Flaherty, Matt Leon, Shannon and John Beisner, Anthony and Erin Nieszel, Caitlin, Patrick, and Bridget Flaherty, Mick, Molly, and Maggie Stotz, and Ryan, Rhyanna, Haley, and Lyla Oeffling.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Stanley.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 29,from 3-8pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176), Crystal Lake. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 30, from 10am until the 11am Funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176), Crystal Lake. Interment will follow the Mass at Crystal Lake Memorial Park, Crystal Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010.
