Barbara Jean Mason

Barbara Jean Mason (née Brown) died peacefully in her sleep in Cary, IL, on November 18, 2018, at the age of 94.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Rick (Marilee), Jeff (Karen), and David; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul B. Mason Jr.; daughters, Carol and Jan; and son Ken.

Barbara was born in Warren County, OH, on August 28, 1924, to Robert E. and Lura (Grant) Brown, who later moved to the Mount Lookout neighborhood of Cincinnati. She graduated from Withrow High School in 1942 and later from Oberlin College with a degree in history. Barbara married Paul B. Mason Jr. in 1946, following his return from service in the Marines. During their 67 years of marriage, she and Paul lived in San Francisco, New York, New Jersey, and Michigan before retiring to Sun City West, AZ, where Barbara volunteered at the local library for over 30 years.

Internment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Miamiville, OH, in a private ceremony. Condolences can be sent to pandbscw@aol.com.
