Barbara Ann Papamarcos
Born July 10, 1931 in New York, NY to Raymond and Ann (nee Mulhern) Johnson, passed away December 28, 2013 in Barrington.
Barbara was an avid gardener and botanical artist. She was active in the Field and Flower Garden Club, the Nature Artist’s Guild at Morton Arboretum, the American Society of Botanical Artists and the Reed Turner Art Group. She volunteered at the Good Shepherd Hospital for over 20 years in the Emergency Room. She earned a Masters Degree in Education from the National College of Education and taught primary school in Mundelein, IL for 17 years.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 62 years, John; children John Papamarcos, Andy (Outi Karimo) Papamarcos, Paula Papamarcos, and Mark (Barbara Bauer) Papamarcos; grandchildren Sara, Adam, Eric, Marie, and Kevin; and sister Joyce Kalleberg. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be 4-8pm Friday, January 3 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St (Lake-Cook Rd), Barrington. Funeral service at 11am, Saturday, January 4 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 647 Dundee Ave, Barrington. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Chicago Botanic Garden, chicagobotanic.org/donate in honor of Barbara Ann Papamarcos.
