Barbara Schiewe, 69, of Lake Barrington, passed away peacefully at home March 23, 2013, after a brave seven year battle with breast cancer.
She was born March 27, 1943 in Chicago to Robert and Betty Schiewe.
Barbara was well known for her teaching career with Lines Elementary as their librarian. She was a vibrant woman who could engage in conversation with strangers and friends alike. Barbara was a dedicated mother to her three sons and proudly became “one of the boys” as she loved participating in her sons’ activities and watching any sporting event with them. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren and being ever present in their lives.
After her teaching career, Barbara became a successful business operator of a patio furniture refinishing company. At MIL she highly enjoyed her time with her coworkers as they became part of her extended family.
People who knew her, loved her and people who met her would never forget her.
Barbara is survived by her loving sons, Bill (Meleah), Brannon (Chantey), and Brett (Crissy); beloved grandchildren, Taryn, Reagan, Chase, Jaxon, Brett Jr., and Lily; brothers, Bob and Tim (Karen); sisters, Beth and Susan; and sister-in-law, Pam, and dear friend, Kurt Geier.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation for Barbara will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon, Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W Main Street (Lake Cook Rd), Barrington, IL 60010. Following the visitation will be procession to Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines.
