Barbara Ann Schmidt

Barbara Ann Schmidt, 86, of Crystal Lake, formerly of Skokie, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2022. She was born on October 5, 1935 in Chicago to Lawrence and Ann Albrecht.

Barbara was an active member at the Senior Center and with the Church Choir at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Through her church membership, Barbara had the opportunity to visit numerous religious sites in Europe.

She led an active life as a figure skater, participating in numerous competitions and even skating up until she was 66 years old. She also enjoyed painting and drawing, especially portraits and landscapes.

Above all, she loved being with family and friends and going to her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Barbara is survived by her children, Don (Judy) Schmidt, Dan (Kelli) Schmidt, Linda (Eli) Orfanos; grandchildren, Ryan (Emily), Kevin (Mary), Luke and Zach Schmidt, Emily and Matthew Schmidt, Derek and Nikki Orfanos; great-grandchildren, Annaliese, Logan, Jacks, Brady and Beau; her brother, Richard (Lisa) Albrecht, and by nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Beth Ann Hibner; her parents; and by her sister, Marilyn Gillespie.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 4 PM until 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014.

Visitation will resume on Wednesday, April 20 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1023 McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014, from 10 AM until the 11 AM mass.  Private burial to follow at Maryhill Cemetery, Niles.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
