Barbara Schneider

The memorial service for Barbara Jean Schneider (nee Flostrom) , 83, of Chicago, formerly of Crystal Lake IL, will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 7 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial was private at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
Born July 1, 1930, in Duluth, MN, she passed away October 31, 2013 in Chicago.
Barbara had a home in Crystal Lake from 1960 – 1985. She adored being a mother and was devoted to her 4 children. She was a member of PEO, Crystal Lake Methodist Church and Eastern Star. In later years, Barbara and her beloved husband Frank experienced the world through their many travels abroad. They spent their winters in “paradise” at their home on the Pacific coast, near Manzanillo, Mexico.
Survivors include her children, Brandy (Dan) Smith-Vuich, Brian Smith; and grandchildren, Jacob Hobson, Ryan and Cassidy Smith.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Brooke Hobson; son, Bruce Smith; granddaughter, Stephanie Hobson; and brothers, Bill and Richard Flostrom.
Barbara donated generously to several charities, particularly women’s shelters and food pantries. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charitable organization of your choosing.
