Barbara Svenningsen
September 22, 1954 — January 12, 2014
Barbara Ann Svenningsen, 59, of Crystal Lake, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014.
She was born September 22, 1954 in Elgin, IL, to Albert and Mary (nee Buzas) Svenningsen.
Barbara was active with Pioneer Center in McHenry for many years and learned how to live independently. She loved the music of the 50s, The Wizard of Oz where she identified with the Wicked Witch of the West, and Halloween. She was an avid crafter and card player. She was an advocate for people with handicaps and disabilities. After her death, she was a donor for Gift of Hope.
She is survived by her uncle, John (Nell) Buzas, several relatives and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Linda Svenningsen, and brother, George Svenningsen.
A memorial service will be held on January 31st at 11am at the First United Methodist Church, 201 West South Street, Woodstock. Memorials can be made in Barbara’s name to Pioneer Center, 4001 Dayton St., McHenry IL 60050.
