Barbara A. Zinkann (nee Miesbauer) born April 27, 1928 in Milwaukee, WI to Peter and Ethel Miesbauer, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2016 in Cary.
Barbara graduated University of Wisconsin - Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1950, and went on to complete her internship in dietetics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. On November 19, 1955, she married the love of her life, Henry (Hank) H. Zinkann.
Together they raised their daughters, Karla, Julie, and Linda in Tower Lakes, Illinois where they resided for over 45 years. She enjoyed being a homemaker, was an avid gardener, quilter and seamstress. When her daughters grew up, Barbara pursued a part-time career as a substitute teacher in the Barrington school district, and then later, returned to dietetics at Lake Forest Hospital and Northern Illinois Medical Center.
For 15 years, Barbara and Hank enjoyed retirement, spending winters in Florida, playing bridge and golfing.
Barbara was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Hank; her three daughters, Dr. Karla (Dr. Richard Mallinger) Zinkann, Julie (Jeff) Lencioni, and Linda (Michael) Ryan; her grandchildren, Zane, Elyse, and Karl Mallinger, Carina Leis, Anthony, Bianca, and Nicholas Lencioni, Henry Ryan, and Angeline (Bill) Cotton; great grandchildren, Eric and Kaylee Cotton; brother Gerald (Kris) Miesbauer; and sister-in-law Janice Miesbauer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald Miesbauer.
Memorial visitation will be 10:00a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:30am, Saturday October 15 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook), Barrington. Inurnment will be private.
