Barrington, Illinois,VANDER KELEN ? Beatrice Louise (nee McCarthy), after a long illness, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2010 in Barrington, Illinois. She was born in Chicago on February 9, 1923 to Thomas Francis McCarthy and Beatrice Roche McCarthy and graduated from York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois. A Beloved mother and grandmother, Beatrice was an avid pilot who loved to fly her blue and yellow Cessna 140. As a retired homemaker, she enjoyed traveling throughout the Southwest United States and Mexico in her RV, with the dogs she loved. She is survived by her four children, Donald Prosser (Patricia), Phillip Prosser and Barbara Reynolds, all in California, & Janet Vander Kelen (Michael Lauzon) of Barrington; and six grandchildren Jill Ragland, Gary Prosser, Jeffrey & Sierra Fawcett and Lily & Thalia Lauzon. Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Thomas and Richard, a sister Rosemary Pasch Laurion and an infant son, and former husband Donald Prosser. A memorial for Beatrice will be held for family and friends. The family asks that donations be made to Chicago Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
