Bernice “Bunny” Sweeney, 89, of Crystal Lake passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 from heart failure. She was born March 15, 1927 in Allentown, PA to Frank and Cecelia (nee Zach) Fasching.
On June 2, 1951 she married the love of her life, Jack Sweeney. They were married 58 years before his passing in 2009.
Bunny was a very social person. She loved playing bridge and knitting with her friends, traveling with her husband, and above all, spending time with her family.
She will be missed by her four children, Jack Sweeney, Eileen (John) Sweeney-Miles, Cathy (Steve) Szeszel, and Carol (John) Hanley; grandchildren, Sam (Kellirose), Dan, Robin, AJ (Renee), Rachel, Nicole, Olivia, Joey, and Ty; and great-grandson, Caden.
Besides her parents and her husband, Bunny was preceded in death by an infant son, Danny, and her brother, Frank Fasching.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 24, from 5 PM until the time of a prayer service at 7:30 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte 176), Crystal Lake. Mass will be at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 25 with a short visitation starting at 11 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1023 McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake. Burial will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
