Bettie Lou (Laine) Kugath

Bettie Lou Kugath (nee Laine), age 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 6, 2022 at Auberge Memory Care of Lake Zurich. Prior to moving to Auberge in February 2021, she lived most of her life in Barrington attending school there and graduating from Barrington High School.

Bettie was born in Crystal Lake, IL on April 17, 1926. She enjoyed collecting antiques, especially cow creamers. She also enjoyed watching all the Chicago sports teams, especially her Bulls. Bettie dearly loved and was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren children. After her children were grown, she turned her affection to the dogs in her life. The staff at Auberge always commented on her sweet and gentle nature as she liked to cuddle a stuffed white puppy. The family would like to thank Auberge for the compassionate care they provided her.

She is survived by her and brother, Jerry (Judi) Laine; loving children, Cheryl (Steve) Holz and Jim (Tammy) Kugath; grandchildren, Lawrence (Jaclyn) Holz and Stephanie (Michael) Hubbard; Step-grandchildren, Samantha, Andrea, and Sydney Ruge; great-grandchildren, Cobb and Logan Hubbard, Tessa and Malina Holz; step-great-grandchildren, Desi and Olivia Winiarski and Sophia Ruge.

Bettie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Donald Kugath, before his passing in 1993; parents, Arthur and Lillian Laine; and brothers, Robert L. and Arthur Laine.

A visitation for Bettie will be held from 2pm until the time of service at 3pm on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington, IL.
