Betty Carole (Wingler) Tegeder

Betty Carole Tegeder (nee Wingler), age 86, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 20, 2021.

Betty was born on March 3, 1935, in Tuscola, IL to Josephine and Raymond Wingler where she lived with her older brother Norman until she moved to Champaign, IL during High School.  Betty attended the University of Illinois in Champaign where she earned her degree in Education and met her future husband Wayne Tegeder in an economics class. After marriage Betty and Wayne moved to New Orleans, LA to begin Wayne’s career in the American steel industry.  While in New Orleans, Betty gave birth to her sons Tim and Steve.  During Wayne’s career the family lived in the cities of Kansas City, Chicago, Canfield Ohio, Whitefish Bay Wisconsin, Pittsburgh and Barrington, Illinois.  During her career Betty worked as a teacher in several cities where she lived teaching elementary to high school students.  Betty has been a Barrington resident since 1983 where she became a loyal fan of the library, member of the Barrington Hills Country Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights.

Betty is survived by her loving children, Steve and Tim (Kathy) Tegeder; cherished grandchildren, Ryan (Katie), Brendan (Amanda), Cameron, Shannon (Andrew), Morgan, Patrick (Emily), Sean and great-grandchildren, Owen, Allison, Caroline, and Nathan. As well as her sister-in-law’s Patsy Wessel Tegeder and Donna Tegeder; nephews and nieces Lori Ackerman, Charlotte (John) Wildrick, Carolyn (Tom) Browning, David Tegeder and Cynthia Johnson.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne Tegeder; parents Raymond and Josephine Wingler; brother Norman Wingler, sister-in-law Jan Wingler; brother-in-law Daryle Tegeder; sister-in-law Gwendolyn Tegeder; niece Tania Wessel-Town and granddaughter, Marianne Tegeder.

A burial service for Betty will be held on October 9th at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington, IL.
