Robert L. “Bob” Hartwig, of Crystal Lake, passed away with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the age of 78.
He was born January 24, 1936 in Barrington to Lawrence and Ellen Hartwig. Bob was a graduate of Barrington High School and spent 4 years in the United States Air Force. On October 6, 1973, Bob married Barbara Olsen in Park Ridge. He spent 35 years working for Chase Bank before retiring as their Vice President of the Trust Department and later began working for Countryside Flower Shop. After working for Countryside, Bob worked for Meijer’s Grocery Store as a greeter.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barb; children, Jeff (Julie) Hartwig, Robert (Katy) Hartwig, Kevin (Vickie) Hartwig, and Jennifer Van Blake; grandchildren, Kimberlee (Chris) Hartwig-Schulman, Dr. Michelle (fiancée Brian) Hartwig, M.D., Crystal Graff, Robert (fiancée Amber) Hartwig II, Samantha Pesek, Aimee Hartwig, Elizabeth Hartwig, Hannah Van Blake, Madelynn Van Blake; and great-grandchildren, Chloe Graff, Natalie Graff, and Aleigha Hartwig.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Raymond Hartwig; and sister, Marianne Cosman.
A memorial visitation will be held from 3-8pm with a memorial service and military honors beginning at 7:30pm on Monday, March 17 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
