Bret Vogt of Barrington

Bret was born September 3, 1994 in Elk Grove Village. He passed away unexpectedly May 4, 2016 in Champaign-Urbana, IL. Bret was a 2013 Barrington high school graduate and was currently an engineering student at the University of Illinois. During his lifetime, he played Barrington travel baseball and was on several ice hockey teams including two years of Junior Hockey with the Wisconsin Rampage. But his true love was fishing and he was a dedicated fisherman all his life, participating in high school and college fishing tournaments. At school, Bret was part of the Delta Chi fraternity and was on their executive board. He was also president of the Illini Bass Fishing Club and helped to organize a yearly high school tournament. He was an avid Chicago Blackhawks and Cubs fan. Bret found strong love with his girlfriend, Kayla, and deep friendships with Nick, Matt, Wrigley, Marcin and Franky. He was a true friend, mentor and leader to many. He donated seven of his organs so that five people can continue their lives. Bret lived life to the fullest and please celebrate it as he did, he would want it no other way.Bret is survived by his parents; Brad and Judy (nee Skwiertz) Vogt; sister, Kelsey Vogt; uncle, Brian Vogt; aunts, Christine (late Un Chong) Vogt, Carrie (Tulsi) Tolani, and Jenny (Chris) Christoffersen; cousins, Alex and Elly Vogt, Grant and Forrest Chong, Nikki and Austin Tolani, and Alexander and Steffen Christoffersen; maternal grandmother, Victoria Blake, and paternal grandmother Grace Vogt. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Henry Vogt and Robert Skwiertz.Visitation will be held from 4pm until 9pm, Friday, May 13 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St (Lake-Cook Rd), Barrington.
The funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Illini Bass Fishing Club, www.fightingillinibassclub.com; where a scholarship will be created in his name, or to the Gift of Hope, www.giftofhope.org.
