Brian Scully

Elgin, formerly of Crystal Lake, Illinois,BRIAN M. SCULLY Brian M. Scully, 42 of Elgin and formerly of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at his home. Born July 4, 1968 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Lawrence and Barbara (nee Kelly) Scully. Graduating in 1986 from Crystal Lake South High School where he played baseball, he continued his education and collegiate baseball at the University of Wisconsin ? Whitewater, graduating with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism. He also received a Masters degree from Keller School of Management. For the past ten years, Brian was employed as an accountant for AT&T. He loved all Chicago sports, especially the Chicago White Sox. His love for baseball was reflected in his coaching youth baseball and in his development of the Algonquin Hawks Travel Baseball team, a college showcase tournament team, whose members affectionately knew him as "Uncle Brian". Brian was active in the fantasy sports teams with his high school friends. Those who knew him would characterize him as charismatic with a wonderful sense of humor. His survivors include his devoted parents; his dear brothers, Stephen (Tamara) Scully of Algonquin and Craig (Michelle) Scully of Cape Coral, Florida; his precious niece and nephew, Megan Scully and Dylan Scully; his loving aunt, Sr. Beatrice of Little Sisters of the Poor; and his cherished uncles, Bob (Pat) Scully of Phoenix , Arizona and Gordon (Trudy) Kelly of Traverse City, Michigan. Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Basil and Marjorie Scully and maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Lillian Kelly. The visitation will be from 3-8pm, Sunday, March 6 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (IL Rt 176), Crystal Lake. The visitation will continue at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, Monday, March 7 at 10am until The Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Algonquin Hawks Travel Baseball Association, PO Box 7162, Algonquin IL 60102.
