Bryan Malek, Sr

Bryan B. Malek, Sr., 57, was born November 19, 1957 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Alice (nee Prus) Malek. He was residing in Crystal Lake, IL before he suddenly passed away on Tuesday, October 13th.

Bryan Malek, Sr. graduated from Prosser Career Academy in Chicago, IL in 1975 and went on to take two years of courses with a focus of Graphic Arts at Triton College from 1975-1977. He became a member of the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters, Local 58 chapter in 1989, a Journeyman in 1993 and has been a member for over 25 years. In the early ‘90’s, he became active in the theatrical arts scene in Chicago, IL and was on call as an extra for various movie projects. He went to Truman College during the 1995-1996 school year and enjoyed courses he was taking. He was a proud and determined Muskie fisherman and was honored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Division of Fisheries in cooperation with the Illini Muskies Alliance for his Illinois Muskellunge he caught during the 1998 fishing season, recorded at over 20”. He enjoyed catching many other kinds of fish and adhered to the National Park Services Catch and Release program. He worked on major construction projects in the late ‘90’s/early ‘00’s. He continued to be active in his adventures in life and he loved his family and friends dearly.

Bryan is survived by his children, Sophie (Joseph) Gaziano, Bryan Malek, Jr., and Marly Schott; his granddaughter, Olivia Gaziano; his sister, Kathie (Cornel) Montano; his former wife, Denise Schott-Malek; his girlfriend, Bernadette Cosenzo; and 3 nieces and nephews and 9 grandnieces and grandnephews. He will be missed by many extended family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his siblings, Edward and Gwendolyn Malek; and his parents.

A visitation will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 1pm until time of funeral service at 2:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Alcoholics Anonymous, NIA Treasurer, P.O. Box 51, Lake Bluff, IL 60044.
