Carol Joy Ruhlin, 87, of Algoma, WI, formerly of Barrington IL, passed away February 17, 2017 in Door County, WI.
Carol grew up in Chicago, met Roger during her time at Portage Park Grammar School, and graduated from Schurz High School. She attended the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, where she fine-tuned her talent in art and design. She and Roger were married on October 9, 1954, lived in Morton Grove, built their dream home in Tower Lakes Barrington where they raised their family and created many strong friendships. They finally settled in Algoma WI.
Carol is survived by her husband, Roger; children, Michele (Curtis) Reed, Curtis (Sandy) Ruhlin, and Spencer (Laurie) Ruhlin; grandchildren, Brandon (Courtney), Michael (Katja), and Spencer Reed, Alex, Eric, and Hillary Ruhlin, and Joshua and Elizabeth Ruhlin. Sister-in-law to Wayne (Joyce) Ruhlin, Lil Mueller. Aunt, cousin and friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her son; Bradford Roger Ruhlin, parents; Edith and Hilbert Mueller, Brother; Keith Mueller, and In-laws; Roy and Lillian Ruhlin.
Visitation will be held 3-8pm, Friday, February 24 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington. Funeral service will be at 11am, Saturday, February 25 at the funeral home. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of your choice.
