Carol Prendergast Wheeland Born February 28, 1937 Died February 8, 2011 CRYSTAL LAKE.Carol Prendergast Wheeland passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois Inpatient Unit, Woodstock. She was born on February 28, 1937, in Streator. She was the daughter of the late John and Mercedes (nee Whalen) Prendergast. She was a graduate of the former Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa and went on to teach grade school in IL. And IA.. In addition to teaching, she was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Crystal Lake, where she had been involved with the Blessed Katerie, Faith in Action, the Good Samaritan, and taught CCD. Survivors include her husband, Richard J.; children, Brian (Nancy) Wheeland of Crystal Lake, Michael (Michelle) Wheeland of Crystal Lake, and Todd (Jolene) Wheeland of Prairie Grove; and grandchildren, Caitlin, Matthew, Samuel, Benjamin, Reilly, Jackson, and Connor Wheeland. A memorial visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at 10:30 am, Friday, February 11 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. Monsignor Daniel Hermes will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith in Action, 7105 Virginia Road Suite 21, Crystal Lake, IL 60014 or (815) 455-3120
