Carole D. (Mihills) Hammersmith

Carole D. Hammersmith, 84, of Crystal Lake passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2019.  She was born in Chicago on May 19, 1934 to Harry and Octavia (Beckstrom) Mihills, the youngest of nine girls.

Carole lived a full life right to the very end.  She was always on the go whether that be traveling on vacation or simply going places around town.   Carole thoroughly loved being home, as well, working on cross word puzzles,  solving Wheel of Fortune puzzles and Jeopardy questions  before the contestants, competing whole heartedly in a game of Yahtzee , or getting lost in a good book.  Carole rarely sat still and always brought a smile to those she was with.

Her memories will live on through her family who she loved dearly.  Carole is survived by her children, Mark (Sharon) Hammersmith of Las Crusces, NM, Kevin (Patricia) Hammersmith of Algonquin, IL and Peggy (Jon Anderson) Knapik of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Meghan, Ryan, Keith, Kelly,  Courtney, Brandon, Danielle, and Lauren; and two, soon- to-be three, great grandchildren, Emma, Levi and…it’s a surprise!

The Hammersmith family invites you come celebrate Carole’s life with them on Saturday, January 26, 2019, from 9am until the time of a service at 12pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake.
