Celia Few, 93, of Crystal Lake, was born February 26, 1923 in Chicago to Dominick and Mary (nee Gurrado) Savino. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Fair Oaks Health Care Center in Crystal Lake.
Celia was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved children, earning her degree in Elementary Education. She taught Kindergarten in Illinois and Maryland and frequently held music classes in her home. After the death of her husband in 1982, she returned to teaching for another 15 years at Little Kids & Company in Woodridge, retiring at age 75. She was an active member of the Woodridge United Methodist Church, making many friends there. Her personal faith in the Lord was important to her as she served others at the Community Food Pantry. The family is grateful for the loving care received at Fair Oaks for the past seven years.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Gary) Anderson; and her granddaughters, Hannah and Bethany Anderson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Few; and her siblings, Lucille (the late Dawson) Duckwitz, Joseph (Rose Marie) Savino, and Michael (Barbara) Savino; and her parents.
Visitation will be held from 10am until time of funeral service at 11am, Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Burial will be held at 3pm at Clarendon Hills Cemetery, Darien.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Informed Choices-Pregnancy and Parenting, 888 E. Belvidere Rd., #124, Grayslake, IL 60030.
