Ceres A. (Aros) Locher

Ceres A. Locher, 82, of Lake Barrington, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2019. She was born on August 30, 1936 in Paterson, NJ to Samuel and Amelia (nee Makris) Aros.

Ceres graduated from Paterson General Hospital School of Nursing, she received her B.S. from Seton Hall University, her Master’s of Arts from Columbia University Teacher’s College and Master’s of Science from DePaul University. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau and the National Honor Society.

On August 18, 1963, Ceres was united in marriage to Kenneth “Ken” Locher in Paterson, NJ. She and Ken were longtime active members of St. Michael Episcopal Church in Barrington. They celebrated 44 joyous years of marriage until his passing in 2008.

Ceres was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her loving children, Erin Locher of Barrington and Drew (Rebekah Hunter) Locher of Tampa, FL.; four grandchildren; Abigael Locher, Grady Locher, Elle Hunter, and Shep Locher, a brother, Andrew (Mary) Aros; sister-in-law, Beverly (Anthony) Comeleo, two nephews and one niece. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of Ceres’s life will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 647 Dundee Ave., Barrington, IL 60010. Interment will be private.
