The funeral service for Gilmore Charles Gulbranson,79, of Barrington will be held at: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 720 Dundee Avenue, Barrington, Illinois. A visitation will be 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Matthew prior to the service. Pastor Marc Cohen will officiate. Visitation will be held 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Wednesday,  March 13, 2013 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook) Rd. Barrington, Illinois

Born March 14, 1933   in Burlington, Wisconsin, Charles passed away March 8, 2013 in Lake Zurich, Illinois.

Charles worked at Continental Bank for 23 years, serving as second Vice President of Continental Bank in Chicago.  He later worked at Clayton Brown and Associates, one of the nation’s leading municipal bond firms, before retiring.  He served in the United States Army (Korea), graduating from Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Barrington for 40 years.

Charles played the violin since his youth and was a member of the Northwest Symphony Orchestra for 32 years. He also was an avid golfer and a member of Stonehenge Golf Club (Barrington) for 30 years.

Survivors include: his wife of 49 years, Mary Ann; 5 children, Jeffrey (Barbara) Gulbranson of South Bend, Indiana, Rebecca Gulbranson of Algonquin, Christine (Bryan) Heinrich of Cary, Rachel (Jason) McDougall of Carpentersville and Erica Gulbranson of Orfordsville, Wisconsin; 5 grandchildren, Kimberly, Emma, Austin, August and Benjamin; as well as his sister, Marietta Hangartner of Alameda, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Gilmore and Bertha Henrietta Gulbranson.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Barrington, Journey Care (Formerly Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois), Barrington and Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated.
