Charles "Bill" William Kottka

Charles William “Bill” Kottka, 72, of Crystal Lake passed away on August 5, 2021.  He was born in Leesburg, VA on September 24, 1948, to Robert and Edna (Glascock) Kottka.

While a student at Purdue University, Bill married Gay Weese.  They just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on June 8th.  After a few transfers for his work, they settled in Crystal Lake in 1983 with their son, Charles “Chuck”, Jr.

Bill loved playing guitar and sailing on the Great Lakes.  He was an artist and enjoyed tinkering around in his garage.  He had an eye for home improvement and design and passed down his love of building “stuff” to his son.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Gay; son, Chuck (Jeannie DePriest) Kottka; granddaughter, Brittany (Kaisi) Liu; and a great granddaughter, Harper.  He is further survived by his siblings, Bobby (Kathy) Kottka, Sandy (Dick) Knope, Jane Cooper and Steve Kottka; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
