Cary, Illinois,Cheryl Lee Smyth nee Koch, 58, of Cary, passed away April 20 2011, at Hospice of Northeastern Illinois in Barrington. She was a loving mother and wife. Cheryl was born on July 29, 1952, in Elgin, to Harold and Gloria (nee Ekelund) Koch. She was a lifelong resident of the Crystal Lake area, and had attended Crystal Lake Community High School. Cheryl worked in childcare and was an office manager for many years. Cheryl loved attending and following her daughter?s soccer games for Bemidji State University in Minnesota and was a worldwide traveler to places like Scotland and Ireland. Anytime she did anything for anyone, she put her whole heart into it, and always put everyone else first until the very end. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Her survivors include her beloved husband of 37 years, Vincent P. Smyth, whom she married on June 9, 1973; loving children, Kara Smyth, and Tyler Smyth; dear brother Gary (Marilyn) Koch; and many other family members. She is also survived by her cherished friends Sue Davis and Renee Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Gloria (nee Ekelund) Koch. Memorial visitation will be held Friday, April 29, from 4-7pm, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 East Terra Cotta Ave. (IL Rt. 176), Crystal Lake.. The visitation will continue Saturday, April 30 at the funeral home from 9:30am until the 10am service. Interment will follow at Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Cary.
