Christine “Chris” Iskra,88, of Lake Zurich, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2024. She was born January 3, 1936 in Chicago, IL to the late John and Bernice Bieszczat.
Chris was a lifelong sports enthusiast, with an unwavering love for her hometown Chicago teams and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Whether cheering on the Chicago Bears, Cubs, or Blackhawks, or watching Notre Dame games, her enthusiasm was contagious, and she could always be found rooting passionately for her teams.
Chris was an avid reader, with a lifelong love of books that spanned a variety of genres, always seeking new stories and ideas. Her curiosity led her to travel extensively, and she cherished the memories of the many places she visited over the years. Above all, Chris had a deep affection for dogs, especially her beloved grand-dogs, Cali and Denali, who brought her great comfort and joy in her later years.
A devoted member of the Barrington Horizons Senior Center, Chris found a community of like-minded individuals with whom she enjoyed spending time. Her kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit made her a cherished member of her community.
Chris is survived by her children, Kathy Whitney of Avon Lake, OH and Jeffrey (Kathy) Iskra of Lake Zurich, IL; grandchildren, Sami (Stephen) Lear and Nick (Julia) Harshaw; her sister, Bernice (Daniel) Lavery and Marcia Samocki; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester; her parents and by her brother, John Bieszczat.
