Christine Mouhelis

Christine Mouhelis, 78, of Crystal Lake, passed away Sunday December 14th surrounded by her family. She was a beloved wife to Gus; devoted mother to Melissa and Michelle; cherished sister to Athene (Bob) and Betty (Leo); dear sister-in-law to Peter (Alexandra) and Nick; loving aunt to Stephanie, Pete (Val), Andy (Barb), Pete (Donna), Jimmy (Jackie), Effie (Lennie), Vivian (Gino); great aunt to nieces and nephews; and a good friend to many.

She was born March 21, 1936 in Oak Park, IL. She was a devoted daughter of the late Peter and Dorothy Dandos and was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She married Gus Mouhelis November 6, 1966 and together they raised their two daughters. She loved being a homemaker and devoted her life to her family.
After raising her children, she received her Associate degree from Harper College in Marketing and Fashion Merchandising and graduated with honors. She enjoyed her work at Marshall Field’s promoting fragrance and cosmetic products.
She was a long-time member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox church and loved attending services with her family. She was an accomplished pianist and loved the arts—spending much time attending theatre, opera, dance, and music performances. Other hobbies she enjoyed were playing tennis and golf, reading, and taking classes as she loved to learn. She was a gentle, kind-hearted woman and spending time with her family brought her the most joy.

The visitation will be held Friday, December 19 from 9:30am until the time of the funeral service at 10:30am at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 525 Church Rd., Elgin, IL 60123. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove.
