Chuck G. Huber, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
Chuck was born in Chicago, IL on January 12, 1943. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.
Chuck had a strong faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and telling stories from his time in the Navy. Traveling, especially long road trips, was a favorite pastime of Chuck’s. Navy reunions from the 2 ships he was on were always a high point for him.
Chuck was an artist and photographer. Chuck’s children and grandchildren were the highlights of his life. He loved spending time with them. Chuck was very proud of his four years of active military service in the Navy as a Quartermaster. He served on 2 ships during the Vietnam War; USS Frank E. Evans and the USS Savage. After being honorably discharged from active duty he taught navigation at the Chicago Armory for 2 years.
Chuck was survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Maryann (nee Dudek); children, Patrick (Jenni) Huber and Jennifer (Matthew) Baker; grandchildren, Morgan Huber, Ethan Huber, Megan Baker and Ben Baker; sibling, Patricia Weber; other family; sister in law; Joan Kwasiborski, Janet Sippel, Helen Wilson (Jack), Anne Dudek, Kathleen Shershen (Mark), Carolyn Cahill (John) and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Margaret Huber; Camille Dudek (sister in law), Norbert Dudek (brother in law), Edward Putera (brother in law), James Kwasiborski (brother in law) William Sippel (brother in law), Edward Weber (brother in law).
A visitation for Chuck will be held from 4pm until 8pm on Thursday May 2, 2024, at Davenport Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cota Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. A second visitation will be held at the funeral home the following morning from 9am until the time of the service at 10am. Burial to follow at Windridge Cemetery.
